“ Despite the pain, despite the wounds, rise up and move forward to build Togo, our country”, this is the essence of the message delivered this Friday, 12 May 2017, by the Second Rapporteur of the High Commission for Reconciliation and Strengthening of National Unity (HCRRUN), Mrs Claudine Ahianyo Kpondzo, to the populations of the Western Plateaux region. This meeting, held at the Kpalimé Town Hall, is part of the regional tour initiated by the Institution to inform and engage with the populations on the reparations programme. Among the audience who took part in this meeting, one could distinguish victims, people from all social strata, the prefects of the other prefectures of the region, local officials, traditional chiefs, members of the various peace committees, all turning out in large numbers to listen to this message in order to better understand the ongoing process.

After the various presentations that traced the reasons for the establishment of the HCRRUN and what the reparations programme is, time was given to discussions, which helped to reassure the populations who were quite anxious at the beginning of the meeting.

Mrs AHIANYO KPONDZO said she was satisfied with how the day unfolded “ my impressions are positive because the people we invited were there, asked questions and raised their concerns. That is exactly what we really want to improve our approach, our progress towards reparations

After the Kpalimé stage, the focus shifts to Atakpamé, where the same exercise will take place on Tuesday, 16 May 2017, in the large hall of the bishopric.
