The implementation of memorial reparations is now effective in Togo. Recommendation 46 of the Truth, Justice and Reconciliation Commission (TJRC) advocates paying tribute to individuals who held high office and rendered significant service to the Togolese nation. To this end, the remains of the late President Kléber Dadjo were exhumed and transferred to a mausoleum erected in Siou, his native village, to preserve his memory.

On Wednesday, August 12, 2026, a tribute and inauguration ceremony for the mausoleum, presided over by the President of the Senate, Mr. Barry Moussa Barqué, representing the President of the Council, gathered a large crowd. In the front row were the President of the High Commission for Reconciliation and Strengthening of National Unity (HCRRUN), members of the government, military authorities, members of the family of the illustrious deceased, and various dignitaries. Through this solemn tribute to Colonel Kléber Dadjo, the first senior officer of the Togolese army and President of the Republic from January 13 to April 13, 1967, this is a call to every Togolese citizen to remember and celebrate the legacy of a man who served his country during a delicate moment in its history, but also to restore collective memory, heal the wounds of the past, and strengthen national cohesion.

Several speeches marked the gathering to honor the memory of Colonel Dadjo. Among these, the President of HCRRUN, Mrs. Awa Nana-Daboya, expressed her recognition and gratitude to the President of the Council, Faure Gnassingbé, for his policy of reconciliation and national unity. She thanked all the actors who contributed and worked toward the realization of this sepulchral complex.

This tribute ceremony was marked successively by the symbolic ribbon-cutting giving access to the mausoleum, the unveiling of the stele, the laying of a wreath on the tomb, and the signing of the guest book.

It should be noted that in the lead-up to this national tribute to the late President Kléber Dadjo, a 156-page book entitled ” Soldier Kléber Dadjo, First Officer of the Army and President of the Republic (January 13–April 13, 1967) was dedicated on August 6, 2026, in his memory.
