At the dawn of this new year 2019, the HCRRUN would like to give thanks to God, Almighty and Merciful, for the successful accomplishment of the tasks of the mission assigned throughout the past year 2018.
It is with this gratitude to God the Creator that I would like, on behalf of my Colleagues, Members of the HCRRUN, the Staff and in my own name, to extend here our wishes for a Good, Happy and Fruitful Year 2019 to all, the various components of society.
For the HCRRUN, 2018 was a year of intense activities focused on the implementation of the reparations programme, in particular medical-psychological care and compensation for victims.
The first phase of this activity lasted ten (10) months (12 December 2017 – 17 September 2018). The encouraging results of the first phase are the just reward for the commitment of the highest State Authorities to “ grant victims identified and registered by the CVJR fair and equitable reparation” (as stated by H.E. F.E.G). This is an opportunity for the HCRRUN to renew its compliments to them and its deferential consideration.
- To the victims already covered (i.e. compensated), the HCRRUN reiterates its gratitude for their mobilisation and their commitment to the process.
- To the victims who still remain to be taken care of, I would like to reassure them that the HCRRUN has not forgotten them and that they will be served as its activities are scheduled. In 2019, the HCRRUN will continue the operations already initiated as part of a second phase in order to surely and progressively meet their legitimate expectations.
- To all, Togolese women and men citizens, the HCRRUN recalls “the laudable objectives of a reconciled, appeased society, imbued with tolerance and free of any ulterior motive of vengeance or retaliation”. (as stated by H.E. F.E.G).
- To all of us and to each and every one, the HCRRUN reaffirms the need to live together in harmony and peace.
“Reconciliation being both an objective and a hope” (as stated by H.E. F.E.G), the HCRRUN invites each of us to play our part in implementing the recommendations and the reparations programme bequeathed to it by the CVJR, which the State is working to have implemented, with the support and assistance of international friends and partners.
May everyone find here the renewed expression of the HCRRUN’s gratitude.
A Good and Happy New Year of Peace, Work and Success.
The President of the HCRRUN
Mrs Awa NANA-DABOYA
