The High Commission for Reconciliation and the Strengthening of National Unity (HCRRUN) and the Government met with religious leaders and the media on Monday, July 3, 2017, in Lomé as part of the implementation of purification ceremonies for Togo, in accordance with Recommendation 47 of the CVJR. This meeting aims to define together with these various stakeholders the specific dates, locations, and times at which the culminating ceremonies will take place.

For the traditional chiefs of the Gulf and Agoènyivé prefectures, the preliminary ceremonies begin this Monday with a grand culminating ceremony on Thursday, July 6, in accordance with the government communiqué.

This culminating ceremony will take place on the banks of the Bè lagoon, in front of the community center on Thursday at 9:00 AM.

For their part, the Muslim community will hold the culminating prayers of these purification days on Friday, July 7, at the central mosque of Lomé, behind the BTCI headquarters.

Similarly, Christian denominations will pray in their churches on Sunday, July 9, as part of these prayers for the purification of Togo.

The same ceremonies will take place in all prefectures of the country according to the ritual and religious practices of each community.
