Implementation of the Reparations Program / Purification Ceremonies Officially Launched

The High Commission for Reconciliation and the Strengthening of National Unity (HCRRUN) and the Government met with religious leaders and the media on Monday, 3 July 2017, in Lomé as part of the implementation of the purification ceremonies for Togo, in accordance with Recommendation 47 of the CVJR.This meeting aimed to define, together with these various stakeholders, the specific dates, locations, and times for the culminating ceremonies.

For the traditional chiefs of the Golfe and Agoè Nyivé prefectures, the preliminary ceremonies begin this Monday, with a grand culminating ceremony scheduled for Thursday, 6 July, in accordance with the Government communiqué.

This culminating ceremony will take place on the banks of the Bè Lagoon, in front of the Community Centre, on Thursday at 9:00 AM.

For their part, the Muslim community will hold the culminating prayers of these purification days on Friday, 7 July, at the Central Mosque of Lomé, behind the BTCI headquarters.

Similarly, Christian denominations will hold prayers in their churches on Sunday, 9 July, as part of these prayers for the purification of Togo.The

same ceremonies will take place in all prefectures of the country, according to the ritual and religious practices of each community.
