The forecourt of the Anié Prefecture offices proved too small to accommodate the population of Anié and Est-Mono mobilised to attend the compensation operations on Thursday, 19 April 2018. Although not all of them had testified before the CVJR or had their names included on the first list published by HCRRUN, these observers wished to see for themselves that the operation was indeed a reality.

The HCRRUN delegation, based in Anié for two days, compensated nearly sixty non-vulnerable victims of the 2005 events on Thursday, 19 April 2018. The remaining victims are expected on Friday, 20 April 2018, at the Prefecture’s main hall.

In opening the operations, Mrs. Awa Nana-Daboya, President of HCRRUN, reassured victims whose names did not appear on the posted list that they should await the next phases of compensation.“Those who do not find their names, provided that they submitted statements to the CVJR, should be assured that this is only a first phase; we will return, and we will return again each time the Government makes efforts,” she stated.
