Implementation of the Reparations Program / The Seed of Peace Sown in Atakpamé
Following the populations of the Western Plateaus region, it is now the turn of those in the Eastern Plateaus to receive the delegation from the High Commission for Reconciliation and the Strengthening of National Unity (HCRRUN) this Tuesday, May 16, 2017.
Atakpamé, which was severely affected by violence and human rights violations in 2005, received this delegation with hope. The delegation engaged the populations on the reparations program through two presentations. After exchanges that allowed for the collection of concerns and proposals for improvement, the populations returned home confident that the future will be bright. They nevertheless urged the members of the HCRRUN delegation to make every effort to expedite the process so that the actual compensation payments can begin in the near future.
The Second Rapporteur of the HCRRUN, Mrs. Claudine KPONDZO AHIANYO, expressed satisfaction with the Atakpamé stage: “We leave satisfied with this Atakpamé stage, we leave with joy and above all with thanksgiving that the seed has been sown and that gradually Atakpamé, as the Head of State said, will never again experience violence and division. Each of us commits to taking personal and collective measures so that Togo may finally be freed from all its demons.”
The focus then shifts to Tsévié, where an information and exchange session is scheduled for May 19, 2017.
