As part of the purification week declared by the Government, followers of the Prophet Muhammad prayed throughout the national territory for God to purify Togo.

In Lomé, the Central Mosque hosted this prayer in the presence of the Head of State, Faure Gnassingbé, his Prime Minister, Sélom Komi Klassou, and the entire Government. More than a thousand Muslim faithful attending the regular Friday prayer then prayed and interceded for peace in Togo.

The President of HCRRUN, Mrs. Awa Nana Daboya, accompanied by her staff and resource persons, also took part in this prayer.

Early in the morning, the Imams of the Central Mosque recited the 114 surahs of the Holy Quran and then sacrificed an ox as an offering to God.

This ceremony took place in all central mosques of the prefecture capitals throughout the country.

The two Rapporteurs of HCRRUN, Mr. Wiyao Evalo and Mrs. Claudine Kpondzo-Ahianyo, respectively represented the Institution in the Kara and Plateaux Regions.

This purification week continues and will conclude this Sunday with Catholic masses and Protestant services.
