Received in audience this morning of October 17, 2019 by the Members of HCRRUN as part of a courtesy visit, Mr. Aliou Mamadou Dia, UNDP Resident Representative in Togo, stated that ” the objective of the Local Peace Committees is to instill at the grassroots level this notion of peace, security, social cohesion, and living together among populations so that they can build good neighborly relations, which are extremely important for a country’s development.” According to the UN diplomat, development begins with peace, and that is what he came to discuss with the Members of HCRRUN.
One week ago, HCRRUN organized training for members of the Local Peace Committees and the official launch of their activities with technical support from UNDP, which provided them with computer equipment. The Resident Representative promised his Agency’s support to HCRRUN to further strengthen the capacities of these LPCs and provide them with the necessary means to accomplish their mission.
Aliou Mamadou Dia also exchanged with the President of HCRRUN in her capacity as Mediator of the Republic: ” I was very pleased to discuss with Madam President in her capacity as Mediator of the Republic, which is also important to us, and UNDP will certainly support her in this function. We will spare no effort to ensure that this mission is a success.” he stated.
