Approximately 250 members of the Prefectural Peace Committees have been participating in a training session since Tuesday, October 8, 2019, in Lomé, under the supervision of HCRRUN. Established in 2016 with the support of UNDP and coordinated by the Public Law Centre of the University of Lomé, these Peace Committees were officially launched during the opening ceremony held on Tuesday at the Hôtel Concorde in Lomé.

Representing all the prefectures of Togo, the Peace Committees serve as community-based early warning mechanisms for conflict prevention and management. They are responsible for helping to identify and resolve tensions within local communities. In the field, they also support HCRRUN during the implementation of the reparations programme by assisting in the identification of victims who have become untraceable or whose contact information is no longer valid.
During the opening ceremony, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) provided the Peace Committees with computer equipment to support them in carrying out their mission.
