Approximately 250 members of Prefectural Peace Committees have been undergoing training since Tuesday, October 8, 2019, in Lomé, under the supervision of HCRRUN. Established in 2016 with the support of UNDP and led by the Public Law Center of the University of Lomé, these Peace Committees were officially inaugurated during the opening ceremony of the proceedings at the Concorde Hotel this Tuesday in Lomé.

Coming from all prefectures of Togo, these peace committees are early warning structures for crises within grassroots communities and are responsible for helping to resolve them. In the field, these Peace Committees assist HCRRUN during compensation operations by contributing to the identification of victims who have been lost sight of or whose contact information is unreachable.
At the opening ceremony, the Peace Committees were provided with computer equipment for the accomplishment of their mission by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
