5,608 victims were compensated for the year 2020 for a total amount of more than 4 billion 800 million. This is the key takeaway from the review conference of the third compensation phase held this Tuesday, 22 December 2020, in Lomé.
HCRRUN also provided an overall update on the database it inherited from the CVJR and the National Special Commission of Inquiry (CENSEI), as well as on the number of victims compensated from 2017 to date.
In total, 32,490 victims were identified in the two databases bequeathed to HCRRUN. To date, with the 12 billion released by the Togolese State since 2017, 13,268 victims have been compensated.

The Institution, which also launched the pilot phase of community reparations during 2020, intends to continue them next year in order to carry out social projects for the benefit of the communities concerned and to ease their suffering, to some extent.
