December 2020 compensation session: More than 5,000 victims on the programme in Plateaux-Est and Kara

The High Commission for Reconciliation and Strengthening of National Unity (HCRRUN) began a compensation session this Monday, 7 December 2020, in the Kara and Plateaux regions. This session follows the previous ones held respectively in the Savanes and Centrale regions in September and October 2020.
More than 5,000 victims of political violence and massive human rights violations awaiting reparations will be compensated during this week.

In view of the health situation linked to the coronavirus pandemic, the HCRRUN has introduced new measures by requiring compliance with barrier gestures for anyone accessing the compensation sites.
The operations are taking place respectively at the Agbonou Cultural Centre in Atakpamé for victims from the Plateaux-Est region and at the Kara Directorate of Social Action for those from the said region, from 7 to 13 December 2020.
Launched in December 2017, the compensation operations have already reached more than 10,000 victims, while more than 10,000 others are still waiting.
