The High Commission for Reconciliation and Strengthening of National Unity (HCRRUN) launched a compensation session on Monday, December 7, 2020, in the Kara and Plateaux Regions. This session follows previous sessions held in the Savanes and Centrale Regions in September and October 2020, respectively.

More than 5,000 victims of politically motivated violence and massive human rights violations who are awaiting reparations will receive compensation during this session.

In view of the health situation caused by the coronavirus pandemic, the HCRRUN has introduced new measures requiring all individuals accessing the compensation sites to comply with COVID-19 preventive measures.

The operations are being conducted from December 7 to 13, 2020, respectively at the Agbonou Cultural Centre in Atakpamé for victims from the Plateaux-Est Region and at the Kara Regional Directorate of Social Action for victims from the Kara Region.

Launched in December 2017, the compensation process has already benefited more than 10,000 victims, while more than 10,000 others are still awaiting compensation.
