Many remain in the HCRRUN database and are awaiting their turn for compensation. Victims of political violence and massive human rights violations that Togo experienced from 1958 to 2005 continue to receive their compensation through the reparations program implemented by the HCRRUN.
This compensation session, counting as the fifth stage, opened simultaneously on Monday, June 20, 2022 at the Youth Center in Amadahomé in Lomé for victims from the Gulf, Agoè-Nyivé, and Avé prefectures, and at the Social Affairs office in Atakpamé for victims from Ogou, Agou, Kpélé, Kloto, and Danyi. The session will then continue from Friday, June 24 to Monday, June 27 in Aného for victims from the Lacs, Bas-Mono, and Vo prefectures, then from June 28 to 30 in Tsévié for those from the Zio and Yoto prefectures.


Approximately 1,600 victims are scheduled for this session.
Who can benefit from the reparations program?
According to recommendation 34 of the CVJR, “beneficiaries of the reparations program are:
- any person, regardless of nationality, who has suffered harm as a result of politically motivated violations, serious human rights violations, committed during the period from 1958 to 2005;
- persons who have suffered harm, including an attack on their physical or mental integrity, moral suffering, material loss, or a serious violation of their fundamental rights, as a result of acts or omissions constituting serious human rights violations.“
They must have been previously registered by the CVJR.
