Nearly four hundred victims are expected in the Centrale Region to receive their compensation during the Sokodé and Sotouboua stages. Launched this Monday, June 18 at the Hôtel Central in Sokodé, the first day of this stage saw a large turnout of victims, most of whom came from the prefectures of Tchaoudjo, Tchamba and Plaine de Mô.
Forgiveness, reconciliation, living together in a peaceful Togo—such were the wishes of the people who received their compensation today in Sokodé, with the prayer that the situations that made them victims will never happen again in our country.
At the opening of the operations, the first and second Rapporteurs of HCRRUN, Mr Wiyao Evalo and Mrs Claudine Kpondzo-Ahianyo, former Prime Minister Me Joseph Kokou Koffigoh, and the Prefect of Tchaoudjo, Col Mompion Matéindou, in turn, recalled the context that led to the creation of the CVJR, then HCRRUN, and presented the apologies of the Togolese State to the victims for what had happened to them.
The victims and their accompanying persons were then briefed on the procedures for how the operation would be carried out. Those whose names have not yet been posted were asked to be patient, as another wave of compensation will begin very soon.
