The HCRRUN is continuing the compensation of non-vulnerable victims from the Plateaux-Est region in Atakpamé this week from May 14 to 18, 2018. After a first week devoted primarily to victims from the Ogou prefecture, the work of this new week will be dedicated to victims from the Akébou, Amou, and Wawa prefectures. Latecomers from the Ogou prefecture are still expected during this week.
In accordance with the recommendations of the Truth, Justice and Reconciliation Commission (CVJR), the HCRRUN has been proceeding since December 2017 with the compensation of victims of political violence experienced by Togo. This first wave is covered by the budget of 2 billion CFA francs made available to the HCRRUN by the Togolese government and covers part of the victims of the 2005 events. A subsequent wave will cover another group of victims in the second half of the year.
The work of the CVJR covered the period from 1958 to 2005.
