As part of its mandate, the High Commission for Reconciliation and Strengthening National Unity (HCRRUN) officially launched the implementation of the Reparations Programme on Friday, March 24, 2017.

Following the allocation of CFAF 2 billion by the Government to initiate the reparations process, the Institution responsible for implementing the recommendations and the Reparations Programme developed by the CVJR entered the operational phase of the second component of its Strategic Plan, namely the implementation of reparations.

A series of activities was planned in this context. Following the launch ceremony, HCRRUN would conduct nationwide information and consultation meetings aimed at informing the population and victims, securing their support and participation in the reconciliation process, and raising awareness of the concept of reparations and their symbolic significance within the framework of transitional justice.

The programme would then continue with the organisation of purification ceremonies across the country, followed by the implementation of the compensation phase.
