HCRRUN concluded the compensation exercise for non-vulnerable victims in the Maritime Region on 6 April 2018 with a press briefing held following the completion of the Tsévié phase.
At the end of the briefing, the two HCRRUN Rapporteurs, Mr Evalo Wiyao and Mrs Claudine Ahianyo-Kpondzo, stated that “the mid-term assessment is encouraging, particularly with regard to the population’s support for the process, especially that of the victims.”
According to the First Rapporteur, Mr Evalo Wiyao, “across the Maritime Region, of the 460 beneficiaries expected, approximately 300 received compensation, with an overall satisfaction rate of around 90%.”
For the Municipality of Lomé and Avé Prefecture, 90 of the 144 identified non-vulnerable beneficiaries, representing 62.5%, received compensation, with a satisfaction rate of 72%.
In the Vo, Lacs and Bas-Mono Prefectures, 133 of the 180 identified beneficiaries, representing 74%, received compensation, with a satisfaction rate of 95.7%.
In the Zio and Yoto Prefectures, 78 of the 136 expected beneficiaries, representing 57.3%, received compensation. The satisfaction rate among beneficiaries reached 97.4%.
HCRRUN welcomed the high level of satisfaction expressed by beneficiaries, considering it a reflection of their confidence in the institution’s mission and their commitment to the national reconciliation process.
The compensation exercise for non-vulnerable victims, launched on 20 March 2018, forms part of the first allocation of CFAF 2 billion provided by the State under the 2017 national budget and will continue in the Plateaux and Kara regions.
