HCRRUN teams are in the prefectures of Haho and Moyen-Mono on Tuesday, 17 April and Wednesday, 18 April 2018, to compensate non-vulnerable victims of the 2005 events in these localities.

A total of 137 victims are expected to receive compensation, including 41 in Notsé and 96 in Tohoun.

At the opening of operations in Tohoun, Mr. Wiyao Evalo reiterated that victims are identified and recognized on the basis of established records, and that simply sharing a surname is not sufficient to claim victim status.“Even if there are ten people with the same name, not everyone bearing that name is a victim. A victim is identifiable; they are someone who submitted a statement that is recorded in the database. Therefore, any other person with the same name cannot benefit from this compensation. Even if they manage to circumvent the system, they will be identified at another stage,” he stated.

Operations will continue from Thursday in Anié for victims from the prefectures of Anié and Est-Mono.
