Scholarship programme for orphans of the 2005 victims: New beneficiaries registered
The High Commission for Reconciliation and Strengthening of National Unity (HCRRUN) is continuing the implementation of its scholarship programme for orphans of the 2005 victims. After the pilot phase, which made it possible to register around a hundred orphans, HCRRUN proceeded this Friday, 9 December 2022, to support 58 orphans, including 22 girls, from all regions of the country. Each of them left with a cheque for one hundred and twenty-six thousand CFA francs, covering 6 months of support.
This support was greatly appreciated by the parents or guardians, who breathed a sigh of relief upon receiving the cheque.
Let us recall that this programme is part of the implementation of Recommendation 49 of the Truth, Justice and Reconciliation Commission (CVJR) relating to the children of deceased victims. And in accordance with the spirit of the aforementioned recommendation, payment of the allowance granted (one million two hundred and sixty thousand francs) to each beneficiary orphan will be spread over five years, i.e. 252,000 CFA francs per year, equivalent to 21,000 CFA francs per month.
