HCRRUN is continuing the compensation programme for non-vulnerable victims from the Eastern Plateaux Region in Atakpamé from 14 to 18 May 2018.
Following a first week mainly dedicated to victims from the Ogou Prefecture, this week’s activities will focus on victims from the prefectures of Akébou, Amou, and Wawa. Victims from the Ogou Prefecture who have not yet received their compensation are also expected to report during this period.
In accordance with the recommendations of the Truth, Justice and Reconciliation Commission (CVJR), HCRRUN has been implementing, since December 2017, the compensation programme for victims of political violence experienced by Togo.This first phase is funded through a budget allocation of CFAF 2 billion provided to HCRRUN by the Government of Togo and covers part of the victims affected by the 2005 events. A subsequent phase will cover another group of victims during the second half of the year.
The mandate of the Truth, Justice and Reconciliation Commission (CVJR) covered the period from 1958 to 2005.
