The 2018 edition of International Women’s Rights Day was commemorated across Togo through various activities organised by women’s organisations. Beyond reflection and advocacy, some organisations paid tribute to women whose achievements contribute to the nation’s pride, including the “Woman Night” gala organised by the Eclat d’Étoile Agency and the exhibition entitled “Top Ladies, Our Icons, Our References,” highlighting women leaders and pioneers who have distinguished themselves in their respective fields, organised by the Zonta Clubs.
Held respectively on Friday, March 9, and Saturday, March 10, 2018, these events paid tribute to Mrs Awa Nana-Daboya, President of HCRRUN.
An international magistrate, the first woman to serve as President of Togo’s Independent National Electoral Commission (CENI), and currently Mediator of the Republic, Mrs Awa Nana-Daboya received a certificate of recognition from the Eclat d’Étoile Agency in recognition of her achievements, as well as a trophy awarded by the Zonta Clubs in the category of women leaders and pioneers.
Several other women leaders, pioneers, and women whose contributions bring honour to the country in their respective fields were also recognised during these events.
