The High Commission for Reconciliation and Strengthening of National Unity (HCRRUN) held a conference this Wednesday, September 26, 2018, at Hôtel La Concorde in Lomé, to present the report on the implementation of the first stage of the first phase of the Compensation component of the reparations programme.
During this meeting, the Institution informed the media and guests about how the sum of two billion made available to it by the Togolese State was managed. These reports show that 2,510 victims were compensated out of 2,475 expected, i.e. an achievement rate of 100.41%. The satisfaction rate, for its part, is estimated at 96.87%. ” “The compensated victims received between 420,000 and 2,100,000 CFA francs depending on the severity of the harm suffered,” indicated Mrs Awa Nana-Daoya..
Despite the various difficulties, the Institution welcomed these results and is counting on this support from the Togolese people for the continuation of the mission.
In her address serving as an opening statement, Mrs Awa Nana-DABOYA, President of the HCRRUN, recalled the contexts in which this phase began. « In those days of December 2017, it was a real challenge, not only for the Members of the HCRRUN, but for all the stakeholders involved in implementing this component of the Reparations Programme », she declared. She took the opportunity to thank the authorities for the resources made available to her institution to carry out this task.

The meeting was led with the various stakeholders involved in the process, notably the Management Committee of the Special Compensation Fund (CGFSI), the NGO Aimes-Afrique, bailiffs and resource persons. In addition to media professionals, it brought together representatives of various ministerial departments, Institutions of the Republic, various partners and HCRRUN resource persons.
This first stage of the first phase, which has just ended, took into account victims of the 2005 political violence and a few so-called special cases. It took place from December 2017 to September 2018.
