Priests, pastors, imams, traditional religion priests, and other religious institution leaders were at the premises of the High Commission for Reconciliation and Strengthening of National Unity (HCRRUN) on Monday, November 28, 2016. This was part of a series of meetings initiated by HCRRUN with Togolese civil society actors.

This meeting aims to engage with this group of leaders with a view to their involvement and contribution to the accomplishment of HCRRUN’s mission.

In opening the proceedings, Mrs. Awa NANA-DABOYA, President of HCRRUN, welcomed the availability of these religious leaders who agreed to take part in these discussions. She also took the opportunity to recall the circumstances of her Institution’s creation and the mission assigned to it.

Three presentations were delivered during the day’s proceedings, namely, “HCRRUN’s mission, current status” by Mrs. Awa NANA-DABOYA, President; “Reparation, reconciliation and national unity, complexity of their implementation” by Mrs. Claudine KPONDZO AHIANYO, Second Rapporteur of HCRRUN; and “Involvement and contribution of religious leaders to the process of reparation, reconciliation and national unity” by Dr. Evalo WIYAO, First Rapporteur of HCRRUN.

A debate session and committee work enabled these religious leaders to consider actions they will undertake for the success of the national reconciliation mission in Togo.
