Understanding the concept of Transitional Justice, gaining a clear knowledge of HCRRUN’s mission, mastering the various stages of victim care and reparation, and finally assimilating the duties of the Bailiff in supporting the victim reparation process—these are the themes on which twenty-five (25) bailiffs are being trained in Lomé under the leadership of HCRRUN. This two-day workshop, which opened this Wednesday, October 24, 2018, will allow the Institution chaired by Mrs. Awa Nana-Daboya to equip Bailiffs for better support in the implementation of the reparation program.

From October 14 to 20, HCRRUN held a working retreat in Atakpamé to evaluate the first stage of reparation activities. It emerged that difficulties were encountered by Bailiffs in the interior of the country who had not been previously trained before being called upon to assist HCRRUN. In light of this reality, as the institution prepares to launch the second stage of psycho-medical care and victim reparations, this training is organized to equip Bailiffs.

These legal officers will also learn to use the technical sheet designed by HCRRUN and used in the victim reparation process, while simultaneously mastering strategies to uncover attempted fraud by ill-intentioned individuals.

HCRRUN intends to continue victim care and reparations starting next November, thanks to the allocation of 5 billion CFA francs by the Togolese State for the 2018 budget year.
