Following the information tours and purification ceremonies, the HCRRUN is launching, from 12 to 29 December 2017, the actual compensation phase.
According to Mrs Awa Nana-Daboya, President of the HCRRUN, ” this first phase is dedicated to vulnerable victims. There are 137 of them across the entire country. These are victims who still bear serious physical or psychological after-effects and require care “.
Arrangements have been made with the administrative, traditional, religious and local authorities to transport these victims to Lomé for psycho-medical care as well as compensation.
According to officials of the NGO AIMES-Afrique, which is responsible for this psycho-medical care, ” around twenty doctors from different specialties (Psychology, Surgery, Ophthalmology, Stomatology, Medicine, ENT, Neurology, Urology, Gynecology) have been mobilized to enable vulnerable victims with after-effects in their bodies to regain their health or to be relieved of the ailments from which they suffer “.
Arrangements have been made with the Ministry of Health to facilitate access to the Sylvanus Olympio and Campus University Hospitals, the Lomé-Commune Regional Hospital and the Bè Hospital for victims who will require more in-depth tests and/or treatments. If necessary, private clinics identified by AIMES-Afrique will also be called upon.
In addition to medical care, each victim will receive compensation as set by the CVJR following the studies and expert assessments it carried out at the time.
