Political and Institutional Reforms – The Reflection and Exchange Workshop Opened This Monday in Lomé
A workshop for reflection and exchange on political and institutional reforms opened its proceedings this Monday, July 11, 2016, at the Radisson Blu Hotel 2 Février in Lomé. Organized by the High Commission for Reconciliation and National Unity (HCRRUN), this workshop brings together actors from Togo’s social and political life for 5 days. The solemn opening ceremony featured three addresses: the welcome speech by the President, Ms. Awa Nana Daboya; the inaugural lecture by Prof. Dodzi Kokorodo, President of the University of Lomé, on the concept of political and institutional reforms; and the opening speech by Prime Minister Komi Selom Klassou, representing the Head of State. All urged the participants to work towards broadening the understanding of political and institutional reforms in Togo.
This solemn ceremony was followed by a preliminary presentation on the HCRRUN’s journey with the APG, specifically the spirit and letter of the reforms as contained in the CVJR Recommendations, presented by Bishop Nicodème Barrigah-Bénissan.
The afternoon was dedicated to Panel 1, led by Messrs. Lawson N’sinto, Hetcheli Folly Kokou, Batchana Essohanam, and Ms. Assemboni Alida, on “The Republics of Yesterday and the Republic of Today.”
