{"id":9996,"date":"2018-03-26T16:29:07","date_gmt":"2018-03-26T16:29:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hcrrun-tg.org\/hcrrun-provides-compensation-and-not-damages\/"},"modified":"2018-03-26T16:29:07","modified_gmt":"2018-03-26T16:29:07","slug":"hcrrun-provides-compensation-and-not-damages","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hcrrun-tg.org\/en\/hcrrun-provides-compensation-and-not-damages\/","title":{"rendered":"HCRRUN provides compensation and not damages"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Following the phase for non-vulnerable victims in Lom\u00e9-Commune and its surroundings, HCRRUN begins the phase for the Lacs, Vo, and Bas Mono prefectures this Monday, March 26, 2018.<\/p>\n<p>Before continuing with this phase, HCRRUN issued a <a href=\"https:\/\/hcrrun-tg.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/hcrrun_Communiqu\u00e9_R\u00e9action-victimes_mars_2018.pdf\">press release on Friday, March 23, 2018<\/a> to provide clarifications on the ongoing compensation process. <a href=\"https:\/\/hcrrun-tg.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/hcrrun_Communiqu\u00e9_R\u00e9action-victimes_mars_2018.pdf\">This release specifies that<\/a> &#8220;the CVJR and HCRRUN have at no time spoken of damages for victims,&#8221; but rather of compensation. HCRRUN recalls that &#8220;the State&#8217;s recognition of its responsibility for the harm caused, within the framework of transitional justice, led it to agree to provide symbolic reparations and not damages.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>For HCRRUN, &#8220;the compensation granted to victims or their beneficiaries is based on this principle, and it is up to each victim to accept or refuse the compensation granted to them&#8221;;<br \/>\n&#8220;The compensation provided to victims is that which is included in the CVJR reparations program, and can in no case be subject to upward or downward revision by HCRRUN,&#8221; <a href=\"https:\/\/hcrrun-tg.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/hcrrun_Communiqu\u00e9_R\u00e9action-victimes_mars_2018.pdf\">the statement indicates.<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Minor children of victims will be supported<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>HCRRUN also informs through <a href=\"https:\/\/hcrrun-tg.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/hcrrun_Communiqu\u00e9_R\u00e9action-victimes_mars_2018.pdf\">this press release<\/a> that regarding deceased victims, HCRRUN has received instructions from the Head of State to draw up a list of the minor children of these victims at the time of the events and submit it for his high attention for the care of these orphans.<\/p>\n<p>Surviving parents will be notified in due course.<\/p>\n<p>HCRRUN therefore informs victims in these cases to make it known in writing and under closed envelope with all relevant supporting documents (death certificate of the parent, birth certificate and\/or nationality of the orphan, etc.)<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Following the phase for non-vulnerable victims in Lom\u00e9-Commune and its surroundings, HCRRUN begins the phase for the Lacs, Vo, and Bas Mono prefectures this Monday, March 26, 2018.
