Since their establishment, the HCRRUN has involved them in carrying out its mandate.

After nearly five years of operation, and in view of the requirements arising from new global challenges related to human security and the health situation, as well as the lack of operational capacity observed in certain Local Peace Committees, the HCRRUN commissioned an evaluation of the performance and effectiveness of these structures on the ground. The objective was to assess the need for their restructuring in order to enhance their effectiveness in supporting local communities in conflict prevention and management.

The evaluation of the LPCs revealed significant weaknesses within these structures and highlighted the need to restructure them and strengthen their capacities in various areas, enabling them to effectively fulfil their roles within their respective communities.

These workshops presenting the findings and recommendations of the evaluation will subsequently be followed by sessions dedicated to the restructuring of the Local Peace Committees.

Opening of the workshops to present the findings and recommendations from the evaluation of the Local Peace Committees (LPCs) took place on Monday, May 23, 2022, at Hotel La Concorde in Lomé.
