The first session of the fifth phase of the reparation programme began simultaneously in Kara and Sokod\u00e9 on Monday, May 9, 2022, for the benefit of victims from the prefectures of these two regions of Togo. HCRRUN teams set up their operations respectively at the Kara Social Affairs Office and at the National Weaving Centre (CENATIS) in Sokod\u00e9, where they welcomed victims and provided them with support and assistance.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

These individuals, who were victims of politically motivated violence or injustices between 1958 and 2005 and who submitted their statements to the CVJR or to the National Special Independent Commission of Inquiry (CNSEI), receive compensation and, in some cases, medical care, as an expression of the State\u2019s compassion and solidarity towards them.<\/p>\r\n

While the number of statements recorded by the CVJR stood at 22,415, the review of these statements, together with those submitted to the CNSEI, has brought the total number of identified victims to nearly 40,000 to date.<\/p>\r\n

From December 2017, when the compensation process began, to December 2021, a total of 20,278 victims had received compensation.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

As part of the implementation of the reparation programme, the HCRRUN is also carrying out community and collective reparations, including the construction and refurbishment of classrooms in Dj\u00e9r\u00e9hou\u00e9 and the construction of the Fountain of Reconciliation at the Barkoissi market.<\/p>\r\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
