The African Union Commission (Department of Political Affairs, Peace and Security)<\/strong> and the Centre for the Study of Violence and Reconciliation (CSVR)<\/strong>, in collaboration with the High Commission for Reconciliation and Strengthening of National Unity (HCRRUN)<\/strong>, will host the Sixth African Transitional Justice Forum<\/strong> under the theme:<\/p>\r\n
“Transitional Justice and Social Capital in Africa”<\/strong><\/p>\r\n
The Forum will take place in Lom\u00e9, Togo<\/strong>, from 7 to 9 September 2022<\/strong>.<\/p>\r\n
The African Transitional Justice Forum, first launched in 2017<\/strong>, is convened annually as a continental platform for dialogue, experience-sharing and reflection on the state of transitional justice in Africa. It provides an opportunity to assess progress, identify emerging challenges, share good practices and generate knowledge to strengthen transitional justice processes across the continent.<\/p>\r\n
The 2022 edition aligns with the African Union’s 2022 Theme of the Year<\/strong> and Agenda 2063<\/strong>, offering a platform to examine the relationship between transitional justice, development and social transformation. While poverty, inequality and underdevelopment may not directly cause armed conflict or human rights violations, they can exacerbate existing tensions and undermine peace, resilience and sustainable development.<\/p>\r\n
