As part of its mission and in implementation of Recommendation 49 of the Truth, Justice and Reconciliation Commission (TJRC) concerning children of deceased victims, the High Commission for Reconciliation and Strengthening of National Unity (HCRRUN) launched on Monday, August 29, 2022, the scholarship program for orphans of victims of the 2005 violence.<\/p>\n\n

In accordance with the spirit of the aforementioned recommendation, payment of the allocated allowance (one million two hundred sixty thousand<\/strong> francs<\/strong>) to each beneficiary orphan will be spread over five years, namely 252,000 CFA francs per year equivalent to 21,000 CFA francs per month. <\/p>\n\n

This launch ceremony enabled HCRRUN to provide one hundred orphans with a check for sixty-three thousand (63,000) francs each, covering three months of allowance. They will subsequently be able to access the planned allowance every month with their savings booklet.<\/p>\n\n

For parents and guardians, this gesture from the government through HCRRUN is a genuine relief at the start of the 2022-2023 school year.<\/p>\n\n

It should be noted that the launch of this program follows a preliminary investigation mission that enabled HCRRUN to verify the actual existence of each child and also their status as a pupil, student, or apprentice living with a surviving parent or guardian. <\/p>\n\n
