The High Commission for Reconciliation and Strengthening of National Unity (HCRRUN) held its annual review conference on Thursday, December 21, 2023, in Lom\u00e9. The meeting enabled the institution to review its 2023 activities and present its financial report. <\/p>\n\n
In addition to the individual compensation sessions that enabled the compensation of 3,604 victims, bringing the total number of victims compensated since the beginning to 27,243, HCRRUN continued the implementation of community and collective reparations in accordance with CVJR recommendation No. 54. Thus, during the year 2023, the institution proceeded with the reception of a medical-social center in Niki Niki and conducted missions to hear conflicts in Bodj\u00e9 Medj\u00e9 in Kp\u00e9l\u00e9 and those in Agbandi and Diguina in Blitta.<\/p>\n\n
For the President of HCRRUN, Mrs. Awa NANA Daboya, submitting to this annual review exercise each year consists essentially of complying with the CVJR recommendation which advocates “that regular reports be made to the populations concerning the implementation of the reparations program”.<\/p>\n\n
She believes that our country should be pleased with the progress made by HCRRUN “a record of which our country should be proud compared to what is observed elsewhere where transitional justice processes are stillborn projects due to socio-economic constraints, or even the absence of genuine political will<\/em>“. HCRRUN also made progress this year in implementing CVJR recommendation No. 46 relating “to tributes to be paid to certain deceased personalities who held important positions of responsibility and served the Togolese nation<\/em>“.<\/p>\n\n According to the president of the institution, “an obstacle has been overcome in the case of the late Colonel Kl\u00e9ber Dadjo, former Head of State.
