Launched on Saturday, April 13, 2024, this campaign is continuing across the entire national territory with the participation of political actors, candidates and civil society leaders. They are jostling with debates of ideas in the media as well as on the ground, notably during rallies. This is clearly a moment that is both crucial and sensitive, during which one may witness excesses in terms of statements or acts that could undermine peace and social cohesion.

It is therefore to preserve this social peace that the Local Peace Committees (CLPs) have initiated awareness-raising actions targeting groups in their respective communities. Indeed, since the start of the election campaign, across the entire national territory, CLP members have been carrying out awareness-raising activities for traditional chiefs, women’s and youth groups, opinion leaders, etc., for a peaceful election campaign and a violence-free vote. In the prefectures of Kpélé, Kéran, Vo, Ogou, Tandjouaré, Lacs or Akébou, for example, messages of peace and living together were shared during awareness-raising sessions.

All these awareness-raising sessions are conducted under the supervision and coordination of the High Commission for Reconciliation and Strengthening National Unity (HCRRUN), as evidenced by the presence of Mrs Awa NANA Daboya in the Savanes region from April 14 to 20, 2024. In the same spirit, Mr WIYAO Evalo, First Rapporteur of HCRRUN, was in the Kara region.

It should be recalled that, in preparation for this electoral deadline and with a view to enabling the CLPs to play their role as ambassadors of peace more effectively, HCRRUN organized, in February and March, capacity-building sessions for members of these structures on conflict prevention and resolution and on support to HCRRUN for peaceful elections. https://hcrrun-tg.org/legislatives-et-regionales-2024-le-hcrrun-renforce-les-capacites-des-comites-locaux-de-paix-pour-un-scrutin-apaise/

The electoral process for the combined Legislative and Regional elections has seen renewed interest with the launch of the election campaign.
