It aims to strengthen the capacities of Local Peace Committee members, enabling them to serve as effective actors in the promotion of dialogue, mediation, social cohesion and peaceful coexistence within their communities.<\/p>\r\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">Opening the workshop, the President of HCRRUN reminded participants of the <strong>&#8220;plural, enduring and complex&#8221;<\/strong> nature of the mission entrusted to the Local Peace Committees. She emphasized their responsibility to promote peaceful coexistence, prevent conflicts and safeguard peace, reconciliation and national unity in their respective localities\u2014values which, she noted, <strong>&#8220;can never be taken for granted.&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\r\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">With the official election campaign only days away, the workshop was held at a particularly strategic moment. The President of HCRRUN called on participants to fully appreciate the challenges associated with this <strong>high-risk<\/strong> period, during which differences of opinion may escalate into tensions or conflicts capable of undermining social cohesion and national unity.<\/p>\r\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">Facilitated by experienced resource persons specializing in transitional justice, mediation and non-violent communication, the workshop adopted a participatory approach combining case studies, group discussions, role-playing exercises and the sharing of practical experiences.<\/p>\r\n<p>Participants welcomed HCRRUN&#8217;s initiative, emphasizing that the training had strengthened their knowledge and practical skills, thereby enhancing their ability to fulfil their role as local actors for peace, dialogue and conflict prevention within their respective communities.<\/p>\r\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>As part of its mandate to promote national reconciliation and strengthen social cohesion, the High Commission for Reconciliation and Strengthening of National Unity (HCRRUN) launched a capacity-building workshop on 30 June 2025 for members of the Local Peace Committees (LPCs) from Togo&#8217;s 39 prefectures.
