{"id":9741,"date":"2025-06-25T09:15:12","date_gmt":"2025-06-25T09:15:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hcrrun-tg.org\/reparations-program-hcrrun-compensates-victims-of-konkomba-mossi-intercommunal-clashes-in-dankpen\/"},"modified":"2026-07-22T10:29:30","modified_gmt":"2026-07-22T10:29:30","slug":"reparations-program-hcrrun-compensates-victims-of-konkomba-mossi-intercommunal-clashes-in-dankpen","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hcrrun-tg.org\/en\/reparations-program-hcrrun-compensates-victims-of-konkomba-mossi-intercommunal-clashes-in-dankpen\/","title":{"rendered":"Reparations Program: HCRRUN Compensates Victims of Konkomba\/Mossi Intercommunal Clashes in Dankpen"},"content":{"rendered":"\r\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd wp-block-paragraph\">As part of the implementation of its Reparations Programme, the High Commission for Reconciliation and Strengthening of National Unity (HCRRUN) conducted a compensation exercise in <strong>Gu\u00e9rin-Kouka, Dankpen Prefecture<\/strong>, from <strong>16 to 21 June 2025<\/strong>, for victims of the intercommunal clashes that occurred in 1992 between the Konkomba and Mossi communities.<\/p>\r\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">The exercise provided reparations to nearly <strong>900 victims<\/strong>, in accordance with the recommendations of the Truth, Justice and Reconciliation Commission (CVJR). It forms part of the transitional justice process initiated by the Togolese State to acknowledge past suffering, repair the harm suffered by victims, and strengthen social cohesion through reconciliation.<\/p>\r\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">In his opening remarks, the Prefect of Dankpen, <strong>Lieutenant-Colonel Gnakou Alowegnim<\/strong>, commended HCRRUN&#8217;s sustained commitment to implementing the Reparations Programme. He emphasized that this initiative reflects the State&#8217;s determination to recognize the suffering endured by victims, provide appropriate reparations, and foster lasting reconciliation between the communities concerned.<\/p>\r\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">Addressing the participants, the President of HCRRUN, <strong>Mrs Awa NANA-DABOYA<\/strong>, recalled that the 1992 intercommunal violence stemmed from tensions related to the settlement of migrant communities in the area. She underscored the importance of promoting peaceful coexistence between host communities and migrant populations, based on mutual respect, solidarity and shared local development.<\/p>\r\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">The First Rapporteur of HCRRUN, <strong>Mr Evalo Wiyao<\/strong>, highlighted the symbolic and social significance of the compensation process.
