Received in audience by the Members of HCRRUN on the morning of October 17, 2019, as part of a courtesy visit, Mr. Aliou Mamadou Dia, UNDP Resident Representative in Togo, stated that \u201cthe objective of the Local Peace Committees is to instill, at the grassroots level, the values of peace, security, social cohesion, and peaceful coexistence among communities so that they can build good neighbourly relations, which are essential for a country’s development.\u201d According to the UN diplomat, development begins with peace, and this was the purpose of his discussions with the Members of HCRRUN.<\/p>\n
One week earlier, HCRRUN had organized training for members of the Local Peace Committees, followed by the official launch of their activities, with technical support from UNDP, which also provided them with computer equipment. The Resident Representative reaffirmed his Agency\u2019s commitment to supporting HCRRUN by further strengthening the capacities of the Local Peace Committees and providing them with the resources necessary to fulfil their mission.<\/p>\n
Mr. Aliou Mamadou Dia also met with the President of HCRRUN in her capacity as Mediator of the Republic: \u201cI was very pleased to meet with Madam President in her capacity as Mediator of the Republic, a role that is also of great importance to us.
