The High Commission for Reconciliation and Strengthening of National Unity (HCRRUN) held its traditional annual review conference on Thursday, December 30, 2021, in Lom\u00e9. In the presence of representatives of the press, guests from the institutions of the Republic and ministerial departments, diplomatic representatives, traditional leaders, and local elected officials, Ms. Awa Nana-Daboya reported on the activities carried out by her institution in 2021 and presented its financial report.<\/p>\r\n

The report showed that, in 2021, CFAF 7 billion were mobilized for the reparation programme, while total expenditure amounted to CFAF 5,864,856,499. This amount covered compensation for 7,010 individual victims, community and collective reparations, as well as operating expenses, leaving a balance of CFAF 1,135,143,501.<\/p>\r\n

The various stakeholders involved in the compensation process then provided the audience with further information through a series of presentations. It emerged that, in addition to individual compensation for non-vulnerable victims, community reparations are also being implemented. These include, in particular, the construction of the Reconciliation Fountain, inaugurated on December 16 in Barkoissi, in the Oti prefecture; the commencement of construction of a Medical and Social Centre (CMS) and a school building in the prefectures of Blitta and Sotouboua; as well as the construction of latrines at the Dj\u00e9r\u00e9houy\u00e9 Public Primary School.<\/p>\r\n<\/figure>\r\n<\/div>\r\n

Approximately CFAF 19 billion have been mobilized since the beginning of the process in December 2017, resulting in compensation for a total of 20,278 individual victims, as well as several other achievements under the community and collective reparation programme. More than 15,000 victims are still awaiting compensation.<\/p>\r\n

It should be noted that, in addition to the CVJR database, the HCRRUN also received the list of victims registered by the National Special Independent Commission of Inquiry (CNSEI), established in 2005 and headed at the time by former Prime Minister Me Joseph Kokou Koffigoh.<\/p>\r\n<\/figure>\r\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
