On Monday, July 11, 2016, the workshop on political and institutional reforms organized by the High Commissioner for Reconciliation and Strengthening National Unity (HCRRUN) opened in Lom\u00e9. In reference to paragraph 2 of recommendation 8 of the Truth, Justice and Reconciliation Commission (CVJR), this workshop is part of the broad reflection on the issue of institutional reforms “… involving political figures, legal experts, sociologists, historians, and civil society organizations in order to determine the institutions capable of ensuring governance adapted to our realities.” <\/p>\n
Thus, during the press conference held at the Institution’s headquarters on Thursday, July 7, to launch the event, the President of HCRRUN, Mrs. Awa Nana Daboya, recalled the specific nature of this framework for reflection. The workshop is not intended to implement reforms, but to lead the Togolese people to a better common understanding of the concept of reforms. <\/p>\n
“This will be an opportunity for everyone to learn about reforms, to understand the concept of reforms as advocated throughout time by great thinkers, legal experts, and other politicians. And we will all be pleased to have this basic common understanding,” stated Mrs. Awa Nana Daboya.<\/p>\n
This framework for reflection will also be the place for participants, and through them, all Togolese people, to rediscover the different dynamics of the Republics under which the country has lived, to analyze them in light of today’s Republic, and to make projections for the Republic of tomorrow in which they aspire to live.<\/p>\n
The summary of the workshop’s proceedings will be submitted to the Commission in charge of reforms, created by the Head of State in January 2015, which will be responsible for its implementation.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
